Cambridge International Diploma In Business
Introduction The Cambridge International Diploma in Business provides a framework for developing the skills and knowledge needed for employment in the increasingly dynamic business environment. The Diploma aims to meet the needs of employers, employees and students, by assessing knowledge and competence in a range of Business areas.
Aim The aim of this Diploma is to assess a candidate's competence in a range of Business skills: key business concepts skills to real work environments an ability to think and work independently
Core Modules
Optional
Entry requirements Standard Diploma Mean KCSE C- or a D+ coupled with work experience. Length of Study Standard Diploma is designed to take 1 year
Advanced Diploma Mean C. KCSE, Cambridge Standard Diploma or any other Diploma from a recognized institution. Length of Study Advanced Diploma is designed to take 1 year NB: Consideration will also be given to a candidate's qualification history and experience.
ASSESSMENT PROCEDURES Examined Modules The following Core and Optional modules are assessed by examination: Business Organisation and Environment Effective Business Communication Business Finance Marketing Human Resource Management Module examinations will be available in two sessions, usually in May and October. Information and Communications Technology This module is the Core Module from the Cambridge International Diploma in ICT, but is available as an optional unit within the Business Award. It is assessed through a prescribed set of tasks that must be conducted under controlled conditions
Assignment Assessed Modules The following modules are assessed through a Centre-based assignment: Interpersonal Business Skills Business Start-up Customer Care Organising Meetings and Events
Results and Certification Certification is available at a number of stages in the Diploma. Candidates who complete the two Core Modules will receive a Core certificate. Completion of two additional Optional Modules leads to the Cambridge International Diploma in Business. It is also possible to study for individual Modules, for which certificates are awarded. Pass, Merit and Distinction grades will be awarded. Candidates who fail to pass an assessment are able to retake. Results for examined modules will be graded Distinction, Merit, Pass or Fail.

Diploma Structure

The documentation and printouts produced in the assessment are externally marked by the University of Cambridge International Examination. Practical assessments are also submitted to CIE.
Certification Certification is available at various points in the Diploma. · A candidate who passes the Core Module will receive a Cambridge Core ICT module certificate. · Successful completion of three Optional Modules, in addition to the Core Module, leads to the Cambridge International Diploma in ICT at Foundation Level. · A candidate who passes an individual Optional Module will receive a certificate for that Module. As an aid to recognition by others of the skills demonstrated by the successful candidate, the certificate records not only the module title but also the principal assessment objectives met.

Cambridge International Diploma In Computing (Advanced level) INTRODUCTION The Diploma in Computing recognises a candidates competence in programming and using computer systems. This Award has been developed specifically for the international market, recognising the growing importance of employees working across geographic and cultural borders. The competencies assessed are designed to allow candidates to clearly demonstrate their capability at controlling a computer and in particular at automating tasks through the use of programming languages. In completing the practical tasks and project, the candidate is expected to work on real-life scenarios and to produce appropriate solutions and documentation. Candidates will be assessed on the full range of computing skills that are necessary in producing a solution to a problem - analysis, design, implementation, testing and documentation. Aims 1. develop an understanding of the main principles of solving problems using computers; 2. develop an understanding of the range of applications of computers and the effects of their use; 3. develop an understanding of the organisation of computer systems including software, data, hardware, communications and people; 4. acquire the skills necessary to apply this understanding to developing computer-based solutions to problems. In addition, 5. develop an understanding of the main principles of systems analysis and design, methods of problem formulation and planning of solutions using computers, and systematic methods of implementation, testing and documentation. Target Group The Diploma in Computing is designed for anyone who has already gained a broad knowledge of ICT applications and who wishes to develop an understanding of the operation of the computer and how to automate tasks using computers. It is suitable for students, employees and trainees.

Examination Rules and Regulations For students who wish to qualify and work as middle level accountants, who are known as accounting technicians
Registration Requirements A person seeking to be registered as a student for the Kenya Account Technicians Certificate (KATC) must show evidence of being a holder of the following minimum qualifications:
· Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination with an aggregate average of grade D (D plain). · A Division III of the Cambridge School Certificate or East African Certificate of Education or Kenya Certificate of Education. · A pass in EITHER the stage I or the stage II of the ACNC Examination. · Such other certificates as may be approved by the Board.
